Consultations at Dr SickleCell are by appointment only.
Consultations are available between 9.00 and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.
What to expect
On your first visit for consultation, the doctor will take a full medical history, including information on frequency of crisis episodes, past complications, other chronic medical conditions you may have and medications you are currently using or used in the past, allergies and your presenting complaint, followed by a physical examination. The physical examination will typically include checking your blood pressure and blood sugar for diabetes.
The doctor will conclude by advising you on your current medical condition and the proceeding treatment, and may also recommend further medical tests and/or reviews if necessary.
If you have an urgent medical problem please let our reception staff know. We will do our best to see you as soon as possible.
Standard appointments are of 15 minutes duration however we recommend you make a 30 minute appointment if you: wish to discuss several issues during the one appointment.
We advise adherence to punctuality as we aim to run on time. Your punctual attendance will assist this.
Sometimes however, we may be running behind schedule and our reception staff will endeavour to advise you of this prior to your appointment.
To ensure quality of care and proper observation of presenting condition, the doctor prefer to see you for a consultation rather than liaise via telephone or email.
